MANILA, Philippines. May 31, 2024 – The Jollibee Group continues to strengthen its commitment to environmental stewardship by supporting sustainable projects such as the “Abot-Kamay Para sa Laguna de Bay: Mission in Action–Solid Waste Recovery” of the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA).

On April 30, 2024, the LLDA held a solid waste recovery activity in Barangay Sucat, Muntinlupa City, as part of Earth Day 2024 celebrations. With the theme “Planet vs. Plastics,” this initiative emphasized global awareness and efforts to reduce plastic production by 60%. The LLDA has consistently championed environmental initiatives to combat the harmful effects of plastic waste on Laguna de Bay and its surrounding ecosystems.

“The Abot-Kamay campaign exemplifies a localized response to a global crisis and serves as a beacon of hope for a cleaner, healthier Laguna de Bay for future generations,” said LLDA Acting General Manager Atty. Senando Santiago.

Employee-volunteers from Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, and Burger King stores participated in the activity. The Jollibee Group also provided meals to all 200 volunteers from various organizations.

Pepot Miñana, Jollibee Group Chief Sustainability and Public Affairs Officer, highlighted the importance of the Company’s involvement in such initiatives as part of its global sustainability agenda, *Joy for Tomorrow*: “Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our facilities and requires collective action. Participating in clean-up drives demonstrates our dedication to preserving natural resources and protecting the communities we serve. Collaboration with local organizations and the government amplifies our impact and fosters shared responsibility for the planet.”

Fostering shared environmental responsibility is central to the Jollibee Group’s sustainability goals. Since 2023, the Company, through the Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF), has implemented a mangrove reforestation program with tree-planting activities in several coastal provinces.

To date, over 200 employee-volunteers from Jollibee’s operations, manufacturing, and logistics divisions have planted thousands of mangrove propagules:

The Jollibee Group plans to continue its employee volunteerism efforts, supporting various environmental protection initiatives. “We aim to inspire our partners and customers worldwide to embrace environmental stewardship and create positive impacts for people and the planet,” added Miñana.
